After a bittersweet ending at the Lime Rock Park event, that saw the #43 Mazda RX-8 wrecked up against the pit wall, Team Sahlen heads to their hometown race with a high finish on their mind.
"This is our hometown race, so I have a lot of miles around this track. And, we are going to utilize the Test Session on Thursday to get ourselves up to speed. Plus, Mid-Ohio is a strong track for the Mazda RX-8. So we should be in great shape for the Sunday KONI ST race." - states Will Nonnamaker
"It was a lot of hard work by the crew to get this Mazda back on the track. The wreck at Lime Rock really crushed the rear of the car. And with such a short time period, getting everything ordered, deleivered, installed and painted was difficult." States Mike Thomas - Crew Chief
In last year's KONI ST event, Team Sahlen raced their Dodge SRT-4 in the event. Running as high as 8th place, a broken rear hub put the team out of the event early.
"Last year was fun in the Dodge, as it was the last time we raced it. But this year should be even more thrilling with the Mazda. There will be another full field of 50+ Street Tuners, so there will not be a dull lap on the track in the race." - states Joe Sahlen
