At the 2009 ST event at New Jersey Motorsports Park, Team Sahlen started in 10th place, and finished in 10th place. This good run was in a very full field of 25 ST cars. This 10th place finish was the highest placed Mazda in the field, which assisted in capturing 2nd place in the year end Manufacturer Standings
For 2010, Team Sahlen is still in a Mazda. But instead of the RX-8 the team campaigned in 2007, 2008 and 2009, for this season Team Sahlen has switched to the all new 2010 MAZDASPEED3. The 2010 season has been a development year for the MAZDASPEED3. Team Sahlen has seen great progress with the MAZDASPEED3, with already many strong Top 10 runs to date.
At New Jersey Motorsports Park, Joe Sahlen and Will Nonnamaker will be sharing the driving chores. The duo will be utilizing the Thursday test day to get some extra track time before official practice starts on Friday.
“I am very excited to be back behind the wheel of the Team Sahlen MAZDASPEED3. The car was great to drive at Mid-Ohio. It should be a lot of fun at New Jersey Motorsports Park.” – states Joe Sahlen
