Team Sahlen is ready to roll into the Roar before the 24 with a little “Thunder & Lightning”. The Test will mark the debut outing for Team Sahlen’s newly unveiled paint scheme on the Daytona Prototypes. The #42 & #43 will be showing off a little “Thunder” and a little “Lightning” with the team’s signature Yellow Bolts emblazoned across the BMW-Riley Bodywork
Dane Cameron added his thoughts to the new Team Sahlen look - “The Roar will be exciting as we will unveil our new look for the first time. It has taken a lot of effort behind the scenes to get a uniform look throughout the team so it will cool to see it all together. This test will be more about the details, working on driver changes, pit stop practices, making sure we are fully prepared to go the distance. I love testing so I can't wait to have three more days of tuning on the car as we continue to improve.”
The new look that Dane mentions is just not contained to the #42 & #43 race cars. In fact, all the equipment was refurbished to look exactly like the race cars. This includes the Taylor Dunn, 4 wheeler, Golf Cart, Fan Card Stands and Bikes. Additionally Team Sahlen purchased 2 brand new Timing & Scoring Stands and wrapped them in the new look as well.
Joining Team Sahlen for the 1st time behind the wheel of the BMW-Riley will be the pairing of Tomy Drissi and Bruno Junqueira. Both have recent experience driving Prototypes. In 2012, the duo drove together to with considerable success in the American LeMans Prototype Challenge Class, with a victory at Mosport Park being the hallmark point to their season.
“We are very excited to have Tomy and Bruno with us. I enjoyed co-driving with Tomy back in 2005. Not only does he have considerable speed behind the wheel, but he also always adds a little extra fun for everyone in the paddock for the whole crew. Also, I have watched Bruno for years and have appreciated his skills behind the wheel. I am looking forward to his input on what improvements we can make to make the set up even better for the grueling ROLEX 24 Hours at Daytona.” – shared Will Nonnamaker – Team Sahlen Sporting Director
The Roar before the 24 is the prelude test to the ROLEX 24 at Daytona that will be held on January 26th and 27th. The twice around the clock event will be aired live on SPEED TV.
