Back in 2002, Chris Wadle founded Lamin-X Protective Films to create an entirely new market of lens, paint, and surface protection for the automotive aftermarket products industry. He was inspired by the racing industry's use of yellow headlights, and realized the market potential of clear and colored film covers for the automotive market. Lamin-X wanted to use a quality product that is thick and strong enough to protect surfaces for long distance racing, yet it needed to be clear enough to not affect light optics. From that idea became an entire line-up of products that serve multiple, even endless purposes for many different industries.

Starting from a spare bedroom of his house then to small office areas, Chris bootstrapped and cold-called the path to building a business. Through the many years of hard work the initial inspiration and visions have come true. Lamin-X’s customers have allowed them to create a solid business that has been growing every year since starting. As of October 2010, Lamin-X have finally moved into their very own new building that will allow them to support the growth and also to help improve their products and services.
