Team Sahlen heads into the Continental Tire Sports Car Championship Season Finale needing a victory to have a chance at the ST class Title. With a victory and a 6th place finish by the #56 racer, Team Sahlen will win the title. This 10 point gap will eradicate the #56’s nine point lead in the championship.
This is a tall order to accomplish, and everyone at Team Sahlen is fully aware of the task that lies in front of them. And no stone is being left unturned to ensure that Team Sahlen has every chance of making this scenario a reality.
The crew has been busy in the last week repairing and preparing the Team Sahlen racers after the most recent event at the Circuit of the Americas. The cars are now prepped and ready to go.
Additionally, Team Sahlen as entered both the #42 and #43 on Tuesday’s test day at Road Atlanta. This is being done to ensure that both the drivers are ready and that the proper set up is on the cars for the race weekend.
In a further effort to maximize the #42 & #43’s results, Team Sahlen has brought in Daytona Prototype racer Michael Valiante.
“Michael Valiante is not only a top level TUDOR Prototype driver, but he is fully experienced in the ST class, having won several races with the Honda of America Racing Factory Team. We are very excited to have Michael with us, and believe he will give us that extra edge we need to accomplish our very lofty goals for this race weekend.” – shared Wayne Nonnamaker
Not only will Michael be starting the #42 racer for championship contender Wayne Nonnamaker, but he will also be finishing the #43 entry that will be started by Will Nonnamaker.
“We not only need to win, but we need 4 cars between us and the #56. By having Michael finish the #43, we then only need the good fortune to have just 3 other ST competitors between us and #56. It should all be very interesting in the last 20 minutes of the race if it plays out as we hope.” – shared Will Nonnamaker
The season finale will be at Road Atlanta on October 3rd, with the 2 ½ hour races starting at 1:15 pm EDT.
The race will be televised tape delayed on Fox Sports 1 at 12 noon EDT on October 12th,
