The race weekend will kick off with Sahlen’s hosting the Friday night tailgate party.  Then on Saturday, the 1st of the weekend’s 9 hour Endurance races will commence at 9 am.  Sunday will see the American Endurance Racing series line up again for another 9 hour Endurance Race.  At the conclusion of Sunday, Winners in each of the series 3 classes will be announced for their combined finishes for the weekend’s 2 races.

Joe Sahlen of Sahlen Packing had his 1st experience at the 2015 American Endurance Racing season finale held at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.  At this event, Joe and his Team Sahlen Porsche Caymans entered the top class in the series.  At this event, Team Sahlen was able to achieve win both Saturday’s and Sunday’s 8.5 hour Endurance Events.  Additionally, the team secured pole position and set fastest race lap for each day’s race.  For this weekend, Team Sahlen will again be entering their Porsche Caymans in the top “Glen” class. Joe Sahlen shared his thoughts on Sahlen’s partnership with American Endurance Racing - “We are very excited to be partnered with American Endurance Racing here at the Glen.  I really enjoyed racing with the series last year at Mid-Ohio.  The Sahlen’s Sports Car SpringFest at the Glen will be the kickoff event to series’ 2016 racing calendar.  And with Watkins Glen International receiving a new fresh coat of pavement at the end of 2015, this means that this event will be extra special by being the 1st race on the new pavement.”

John Kolesa, President of American Endurance Racing shared his thoughts on the partnership with Sahlen’s Packing Company, - “AER is so excited to have Sahlen’s supporting our return to the historic Watkins Glen International Speedway.  Sahlen’s long history with The Glen and racing will surely make this a fantastic event for everyone.”

In addition to their partnership in the American Endurance Racing’s Sahlen’s Sports Car SpringFest at the Glen, Sahlen’s will also be presenting the ChumpCar Endurance event held at the end of May.  This event will be titled as the Sahlen’s ChumpYard Dog at the Glen. The capstone to Sahlen’s involvement with Watkins Glen International will be the 14th edition of the Sahlen’s Six Hours of the Glen.  This partnership, dating back to 2002, is the longest running entitlement sponsorship at the Glen. The Sahlen’s Six Hours of the Glen event hosts the WeatherTech Sports Car Championship series.  Additionally this event is 1 of 4 races that encompass the Tequila Patron North American Endurance Championship.  The additional 3 events include the ROLEX 24 Hours at Daytona, the Sebring 12 Hours and the Petit LeMans at Road Atlanta.  These 4 events combined are part of the elite top Endurance races that are held worldwide each year.
