Team Sahlen returns to the race track after a long summer break to race again with the World Racing League series.  The last time Team Sahlen competed with the World Racing League was last summer at the Blackriver Classic at Gingerman Raceway.  At this event, Team Sahlen was able to secure a 1st and 2nd place OVERALL Victory.

Joe Nonnamaker shared his thoughts leading up to the event - “We are excited to return to racing with the World Racing League.  We were all set last year to race with the series when they visit Mid-Ohio, but a freak April snowstorm saw the event cancelled. It’s really good to be back with the series and at our home track.  This is one of my favorite tracks and this weekend should be a lot of fun.”

World Racing League’s Yokohama Grand Prix weekend at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course will include an eight hour endure race on Saturday.  This will be followed up with another grueling eight hour enduro race on Sunday. Team Sahlen will be entering 2 race cars for the race.  This will include a Porsche Cayman in the GP1 class and a Mazda RX7 in the GP2 class. Drivers for the 2 race cars will include Joe Sahlen and Joe, Wayne & Will Nonnamaker.

Will Nonnamaker shared his thoughts on these ambitious plans to enter 2 different classes – “We have entered and raced different types of cars in multiple classes in the past.  This always adds a complexity to the event beyond the aspect of running multiple cars of the same type in a race.  It is a challenge we are looking forward to.  The ultimate goal is to Secure Victory overall as well as class victories in GP1 and GP2.  Last year we had a one two overall, so we know it’s possible.   But a lot can happen in 8 hours and it will be important for everyone, drivers and crew, to execute to achieve the result.”

The weekend schedule will include a Friday morning practice session and an afternoon qualifying session to set the grid for the Saturday race.  The green flag will fly at 9 am on Saturday, with the race concluding at 5 pm.  Sunday’s race will start 1 hour earlier at 8 am.
